Issue:
When you ungroup a Figma object to work on it, the frame sizing, radius, and background are all lost.
Workarounds:
A. Don't ungroup.
Avoid the ungroup. If you need to update properties, select the asset/component on the left under the Layer tree, and update the properties.
If you accidentally selected the ungroup option, try undo (CMD-Z or CNTL-Z).
B. How to fix:
1. Regroup the frame and its contents.
a. Loop all but the frame with the pointer, right-click --> choose Group.
b. If the grouped objects are not already w/in the frame, drag the grouped objects into the frame. The left should show the group indented under/within the frame now.
2. Fix the Frame:
Left menu --> Layers --> locate the frame to update --> select it.
Important:
When the frame is reselected, it will often no longer:
- be the right size/length
- have a background
- no longer has corner rounding/radius
Note:
Other settings, such as shadow will work again after resizing without having to set it back again.
a. Fixing sizing:
Important:
If you fix the length/width and drag the frame or enter the length in the frame Layout properties (right side --> Design (tab) --> Layout), ensure to change the Flow to the last four squares Grid option.
Then you can drag or change the width/length w/o the frame contents moving.
c. Length / Width:
- Right side --> Design (tab) --> Frame --> Layout section
- Change Flow to last Grid
- Change the W for width and/or H for height
d. Clip / content
- Check the Clip content checkbox (or any image cropping or radius will not be covered again).
e. Background Fill
- Right side --> Design (tab) --> Frame --> Fill section
- Change the fill from FFFFFF to the previous background color desired.
f. Radius
- Right side --> Design (tab) --> Frame --> Appearance section
- Change Opacity from 100% to desired opacity if needed.
- Change Corner radius from 0 back to the number entered earlier.
