FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol.

Overview:
Mindwatering hosted web sites can be set up with FTP access. That means you can use any FTP client from Internet Explorer to a shell/DOS FTP command line, to a graphical (GUI) windows tool such as WSFTP / CuteFTP / CoreFTP to upload files to your web site. (Note: Internet Explorer seems unstable uploading or downloading files beyond small graphics and html/text pages. Use a real FTP client for serious work.)

Make sure your FTP client of choice has options to set and un-set (turn-off) passive transfers. Start with your FTP client set for passive transfers turned off.

Instructions:
As there are multiple FTP clients available, we will give you the information you need to enter into your FTP client's host connection profile. Use the following sample information as a sample on configuring your FTP access with your client of choice.

Host:
This is your domain name.
(e.g. Ours is mindwatering.com or www.mindwatering.com)

Login:
This is your username or ID which you use to login to your FTP site. Mindwatering gave this to you. Generally it is a variation of your business name.
(e.g. Mindwatering)

Password:
This a letter and numbers that make up a phrase or code to enter along with your login name. This is always case sensitive.
(e.g. luV2haveU)

Remote Directory:
This is usually "Sites" as we set your FTP folder one folder "up" or "above" or web site contents folder which we generally name Sites.
(e.g. ftp:\\mindwatering.com\Sites)

Passive Transfers / Passive Firewall / PASV:
This functionality allows a FTP client behind a (double) firewall at work or home to still connect to a FTP. However, with our port scanning/filtration hardware/software, this may not work well. Specifically, time-outs or delayed folder listings are a common symptom of issues when Passive or Active transfers do not work because of a local firewall or server firewall setting.
