Microsoft WebDAV Clients
You can access and publish to a WebDAV enabled site using any of the following Microsoft products that support the standard WebDAV protocol.
Note: For the specific instructions for each product, consult the product's Help.
Windows WebDAV clients - Windows 2000 and Windows XP:
Once connected, you can drag and drop files, modify file properties (compatibility here varies depending on server back-end).
1. Check to see that WebDAV is enabled using the Computer Management control panel application.
Path: Start --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management
1a: Click the "+" next to Services and Applications.
1b: Click the services option underneath.
1c: Scroll down to WebClient, start if not started. Set to automatic if you wish this service to start each time you boot Windows.
2. Connect to a WebDAV folder via Network Places.
Path: Start --> My Network Places
2a: Click "Add Network Place" to start the wizard.
2b: Press "Next"
2c: Select "Choose another network location" -- in other words, we do not want a MSN Community.
2d: Press "Next"
2e: In the server location field, enter the location. (e.g. www.mydomain.com\myloginid)
3f: Enter/replace the description name for the place. (This is the name for this new place's icon within My Network Places.)
3g: Press "Next"
3h: Press "Finish"
According to Microsoft, you can also use the command-line WebDAV Redirector.
Internet Explorer (version 5.x and higher)
1. Type the name of the folder directly in the url location field.
2. Press "Enter" or the "Go" button.
(A network place will be added for you.)
Office 2000 and Office XP
Publish documents using the "Publish" command usually under File on the application's menu bar. Specify the location.
